5 KINGDOMS OF WAR

April 2013

Jon Barucha, a citizen of the city of Nymphs was trotting along a brick path on his stallion. He could hear the sound of distant cries of Slaying Nymphs searching for people to slay.
Suddenly, he glanced at a pale moonlight reflection on steel, not far away, revealing a shining handmade Nymph steel sword. Very quick, Jon readied his bow, and took out an arrow. “Whoever you are, get out of my way with your hands up!” He looked again. He swore he had seen more swords. Not wanting to risk a battle, he cried to his stallion: “GIDDIUP!!!” and the stallion broke out into a furious gallop. He could hear the galloping sound behind him getting closer. Suddenly, he saw more men, no! Not men, slaying Nymphs! And then they were right in front of him. The Stallion tried to stop himself from hitting the other Nymph, but he did. He fell.
Jon could hear loud footsteps of boots getting closer. He did the mistake of opening his eyes. The slaying Nymph took out a double sided war axe, and…

   CHAPTER 1
        ESCAPE TO THE FREE CITY

“I’m telling you, Robert. We have to move to the free city.” “HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY IT? NO ONE CAN COME IN OR OUT OF THE FREE CITY DURING TIMES OF WAR!” “Shush, Robert. The guards are going to hear us!” As if to respond them, a scream shrilled. A trickle went down Robert’s spine. “That’s the voice of Jon! Isn’t it, Mariaz?”
He ran to get his Longsword. A door opened, and Luke, their son, came in the room with his armor on, his sword hanging from his belt, and two war axes clutched on the back of his cloak. “That’s Jon! I have to save my brother.”
“Then I’ll go too,” said Robert, sliding into his shiny bronze armor.
The two men were galloping on their stallions, heading for Jon. When they finally reached him, he was just a mass of skin, bones and blood. Luke gasped.
When they were back home, Mariaz fainted at the news.
Two hours later, Robert finally agreed. “We have already lost Emily, kidnapped, and now Jon. I can’t bear it! We’re going to the free city.”

CHAPTER 2
    THROUGH THE FOREST

Thump. Thump. Luke woke up. The caravan had just hit a rock.  Luke opened the curtain doors of the caravan, revealing a glimpse of sunlight. Mariaz and Robert were on the map, looking which way to go. “Ma! Pa!” Luke cried. “I’m hungry. Can I go out hunting?” He waited for an answer. “Of course not!” Robert cried back, making it sound like if it was obvious. Luke didn’t care. He hopped out of the caravan, so his parents couldn’t notice him. He ran way in front of it, and he took out his bow, steadied his arrow, and a Deer fell.
Luke started dragging the Deer toward the caravan, when he felt the strong hand of a Goblin grab his wrist. The next second, a few goblins stood there, ready to kill him.
Suddenly, he heard the whistling of an arrow. A goblin fell. And another. The last one took out his golden dagger, and plunged into Luke. But all he hit was the grass. The Goblin whirled around, and Luke pierced his head with his war axe.
As he climbed on the caravan, dragging the Deer, Robert exclaimed: “You could have died! We told you hundreds of times Goblins roam the Lashta forest!”

   CHAPTER 3
            WOLVES!

At least, thought Robert, we have food. A piercing howling interrupted his thoughts. As sharp as a dagger, he thought calmly. Then he got back to his senses. “ Wolves!” Shouted Robert. He grabbed a bow, and shouted at Luke: “Get your bow and hurry up! The sound was getting closer. “It’s not wolves,” Robert explained. “It’s Werewolves.”
And there, at the same time he pronounced these words, a Werewolf shot out of a dead bush, behind the caravan. Then another. And again. Finally, they were surrounded.
Robert shot an arrow at one, hitting him in the chest, but it barely did anything. They started closing off, when Luke threw a dagger, which pierced through the head of the biggest Werewolf. He fell in a mass of skin and fur. Then they attacked. A Werewolf savagely grabbed Luke’s arm, throwing him on the floor like a doll. Luke grabbed his longsword, holding it high up so the Werewolf couldn’t approach. Then waiting the last second, Luke threw the heavy sword, which cracked in the Werewolf’s skull. Suddenly, a Werewolf jabbed Luke from behind, and Luke fell unconscious.
When he woke up, five Dwarfs were helping Robert and Mariaz with their wounds. Robert exclaimed; “Luke’s alive!” He jumped up. Robert cried in pain, as a Dwarf helped him down. “ You are too weak to stand up, he said.
The five Dwarfs gave Mariaz and Robert a map, and the smallest one came with them, running to catch up with them. “That was very brave what you did,” explained Robert to Luke. “And thank you, Dwarf. That was also very brave.”

    CHAPTER 4
   BIG CHANGES

Arrived at the frontier, Luke and Robert went to negotiate with the guards of the Dwarf city, while Mariaz stayed in the caravan.
When Robert and Luke came back, they explained they weren’t able to get through. “I’ll come,” the Dwarf said at the same time as jumping off a chair too little for him. He ran to catch up Robert and Luke who were flying.
“I have a proposition.” Said the Dwarf to the guardian Dwarf. “Fifteen hundred golden pieces for you to let us in” The Dwarf didn’t budge. “Sixteen hundred,” repeated the Dwarf. The other Dwarf looked. “Seventeen hundred!” the Dwarf exclaimed as the Other Dwarf drew over his hand for the money.

Luke was now 15, so a grown man. It had been two years since they had started living in the free city. He had a job in the S.D.S., (spying Dwarf society) while his Dad was a noble knight of the Dwarf king, and   his mom, one of the most talented cook in the free city.
On the fourth to twentieth day of October, Luke was charged to spy on the Nymph king of slayers. The dusty brick path, with the moon glittering in the dark, made him remember those days when the world seemed hopeless. Now in the free city, he was safe.

     CHAPTER 5
SPY FOR BAD NEWS

Standing on the hidden gutter next to the window of the king’s chamber, Luke could barely hear the murmuring of the Nymph king. But he heard some words: “Army... 3,000,000 men… attack the Dwarf city.” After this quick moment, the Nymph didn’t loose a second. Luke climbed on his Stallion, and thundered away on his Stallion; Boltlight. After few hours, when he reached the city, it was already morning. He cried: “Open for heaven’s gate; it’s Luke!” The gates slowly opened, and Luke demounted his Stallion to tell the bad news.
Five days later, the fort was well prepared. Thousands of Dwarfs stood on top of the fort, ready to shoot arrows. Two strong Dwarfs with humongous and monstrous Dwarf-forged staffs stood in front of the Iron Gate. The Dwarf king had called help of the Satyr army, so about a thousand well-armed Satyrs stood up on feet to defend the city. Behind the Iron Gate, twelve archers were positioned to shoot if the Nymphs opened the Iron Gate.
Inside the main yard of the citadel, Ten thousand Dwarfs stood with huge lances to throw when the enemies attacked. Outside the city, a thousand noble knights, including Robert, mounted on ferocious Stallions, ready to plunge in the Nymph army. Suddenly, Robert heard the sound. A loud THRUUUUUUUMP echoed through the northern valleys, and 3,000,000 Nymphs charged. The knights and Satyrs were ready for their final stand in front of the Iron Gate.

    CHAPTER 6
          WAR!

The battle was raging. The Nymphs plunged in the noble knights. When Robert killed a Nymph, two replaced the Nymph. Luke, one of the best archers, was shooting Nymphs by Hundreds, but vainly. Everything looked like a tie, when the Nymphs broke through the noble knights, and crashed in the Satyrs. Incapable to defend themselves when the Nymphs were on Stallions, the Satyrs started fleeing everywhere. And then, to Luke’s horror, an arrow whirled over the tall Gate, and it struck Mariaz when she was just healing a Dwarf. Then, Luke saw his mom crumple with blood to the ground. He targeted where the arrow had come from, and the Nymph fell down, with his chest pierced by Luke’s lucky arrow.
His dad had also noticed, for he was fighting with a fury of a Dragon. Suddenly, the gate opened. The survivor knights and Satyrs plunged in, but Robert kept fighting bravely. All around him, bones and blood were splattered on the floor. When the Iron Gate finally started to close because of the Nymphs rushing toward it, Robert gave a hit to his stallion, and the Stallion rushed inside the city.
Already, the bravest Nymphs started climbing on the high walls. “Get the hot water! Get the hot wa- AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!” Luke’s friend fell to the death. A big Nymph had climbed up using two knifes, and he kept slashing at the Dwarfs. Luke took out an arrow, and plunged it in the Nymph’s skull. Finally, the boiling water arrived. Luke and Herby, a friend, threw the boiling water in leaks, while Dono, one of the bullies, took ladders with two long poles, and pushed the poles, so the ladder scattered to the ground. After a while, it started getting harder. More and more Nymphs were climbing up, and few had already gotten up. Ten noble knights were smashing Nymphs with huge iron clubs. Finally, one hour later, the Nymphs stopped the siege to make a camp for the night, and to heal the wounded. That battle was won.
Luke and Robert were carrying dead Mariaz over to the campfire, to burn her to ashes, and bury her bones. Luke sat down quietly next to the fire. It was a half-moon, and all the others had come back inside. He was thinking about Mariaz, Jon, and Emily. They had all died.
Agile as a lizard, Luke stood up and marched toward the Iron Gate. Suddenly, he turned around. He thought he had heard a noise, like Nymph boots: THUMP. THUMP. THUMP. But he couldn’t hear anything. Just my imagination, Luke thought. But he was getting scared. Then, he heard a breathing sound. It was enough. Luke slashed out his pocketknife, and the knife hit a bush. A mass of a fat Nymph fell out of the bush, and Luke ran for his life. He could hear the footsteps getting louder. Then, the moonlight revealed the big Iron Gate. Luke unleashed his sword, and swirled around, cutting off the Nymph’s head.
Luke jumped through the open Iron Gate, and ran to his room.
The next morning, sounds of trumpets woke Luke up. He ran to the wall. More allies had come for the Nymphs.
The Nymphs had installed camp. All around the city, no one could come in or out. This continued for six more days. Luke and Robert were charged to help the starving Dwarfs, and each hour, a new Dwarf died of hunger. The worst thing, was that Luke got Asthma.
THRUUUUUUUMP!! The screeching alerted the city. “To the wall! To the wall!” General Shatwire opened the great Iron Gate, and 200 Barbarian Dwarfs followed him, charging in the invincible army of the Nymphs. The Barbarians were smashed to death by the Nymphs, continuing their crashing assault. They rode through the great Iron Gate, and attacked the streets. Few warriors came out to defend their home, but they were useless to stop the fury of the Nymphs.
The smell of burned houses made Luke’s eyes crumple with water. He got up from bed, and the smell started doing his affect. Smoke and dust came up Luke’s nose, and his breathing slowed down. His chest tightened. He screamed, but nothing except a whisper came out. He smashed opened his bedroom door, and went to the Dwarf nurse.

      CHAPTER 7
      A FIGHT TO THE LAST

While that, the war was raging. Both Dwarfs and Nymphs were falling to the ground, but the city was on fire. All seemed so hopeless. Suddenly, a Satyr jumped over the gate, and fell on his hand and feet, with not a scratch. He pulled out a long stick, about 3 yards, with a microscopic tip at the end, sharper than Dwarf-forged steel. He wore a red turban around his head. He suddenly charged at the Nymphs. The nymphs ran towards him, screaming battle cries. The satyr positioned his stick, and surprisingly to everybody, he turned around, and launched at the Nymph general. He threw his stick, so hard, the powerful blow hit the general off his stallion, and the Satyr took the stick again, and transpierced it through the armor, the mail, and finally, the general fell dead without a whisper. The Dwarf cheered. But the cheer didn’t last long. The Satyr was soon transpierced by hundreds of arrows, coming from the Nymphs. Again, all seemed hopeless. The whole city now was burning, the walls, fallen apart, and the Iron Gate stood unharmed, in the middle of the ruins.
Two days later, the battle was over. The Iron Gate itself was melted, and the survivors were brought to the Nymph Jail.
In the Nymph Jail, Luke and Robert were sitting on the straw miserably. Suddenly, Luke jumped up from his seat. A Dwarf Jail guard was passing by. “Pssst!” The Dwarf turned around. “What? What do you want from me?! ANSWER!!!!” “Be quiet,” Luke whispered “I have a deal.”

             CHAPTER 8
               THE GRAND ESCAPE

It was already dawn when the guard came back. “Here! Now, quickly run away and I’ll pretend to faint!”
The guard whispered.
Outside, the cold breeze coming from the Fearsome Islands made Luke and Robert shiver. Running across bridges, sneaking in towns, and crawling through streams. The two continued
non-stop, until noon. Finally, they reached a town called beaver town. There, they found a place to eat and rest.
Two days later, Luke and Robert got out of the town, with armor, swords, bows and arrows. And of course, food, supplies, two stallions with golden leather for the saddle.
The sound of the galloping started making a beat in Luke’s head. But not two, but four. Carefully, he turned his head, and saw two Nymphs with white armor, and white horses. “DAD!” Luke cried. Robert turned around, and his Stallion broke in a furious gallop. But Luke didn’t react, too stunned. How could they already be here?

               CHAPTER 9
                KING OR OUTLAW?

“Come back!” one of the two nymphs called. “We mean you no harm!” Robert trotted back, nervous. “What do you want, Cory?” “We proclaim you king of the beaver town, ruler of the three clans, of the savages, and the
Head-Choppers. You will now rule our kingdom in harmony.”
These words still made Robert confused, even after 5 years. Why hadn’t they chosen a King of decendance and from loyalty? WHY?
Robert walked out of the tent, to admire the huge territories that were now his. He walked on the green grass, leading to a path that conducted to council member’s house. Once inside, Robert asked the council chief; Rolando, “Why did you choose me as the king?”
Rolando seemed nervous. “Follow me.” Once locked down in a room, Rolando explained everything.
Robert quietly walked out of the room, disappointed. He rode on his brown pony to meet Luke, who had discovered something. A Dragonling lay on a rock,  with a broken wing. Robert quickly grabbed it and pushed Luke away from it. “Move out, its blood is toxic!” Robert rushed to a cage. He threw the Dragonling in the cage, and carried it over to a metal bar, where he positioned the Dragon’s head. He raised his axe, and… “NO!” shouted Luke, and he grabbed the Dragon by his waist. “It can be useful.” One of the council members agreed. “Useful, useful, useful!” All the savages chanted in chorus, and then the citizens of the three clans joined in. “Useful, useful!” “I guess you can have it, then.” Robert responded Luke with a hint of a smile. Suddenly, a man ran in the courtyard. “The great Emperor of the Dwarf land has been found dead next to the hut of the supreme king of the beaver town!” Everybody turned his head at Robert. “Seize him!” 5 strong hands grasped Robert’s arms. He was brought to the beaver town jail.
The next day, at dawn, Rolando visited Robert’s cell. He gave him a bottle of wine. “Here,” Rolando said. “this may be your last bottle. Drink it well.” Then he added, “They say you will be killed at first light tomorrow.” With that, he closed the gate and a guard locked it.
Outside, Luke was terribly confused. Had he really killed the great emperor? The thought was awful.
At night, neither Luke nor Robert could sleep. Luke felt a sudden urge to save his dad. Luke tiptoed through the main courtyard, making sure no guards could see him. Then, he slogged through a stream as a shortcut to the beaver prison. Suddenly, he slipped on a steep hill, and he tumbled down, crashing on the iron door of the prison. “Who was that?” a scared voice of a young soldier surprised him. He hid behind a stonewall, and waited. Finally, the soldier went away, and Luke crept towards the iron door again. The first hint of sunlight blazed his eyes, and he covered them.
Few hours later, Luke was walking back to his house. He hadn’t brought anything to break through the prison.
One day before, he had just found the Dragonling, and now, it wa-“TRUUUUUMP!!!!” Luke ran over to where the horn was blowing, and fainted.
Luke woke up, and he saw three savages putting his dad’s head on the new king’s house.

CHAPTER 10

      captured!

Suddenly, three goblins erupted in the camp, killed the guards, and threw a net over Luke. Trapped, he couldn’t move. Something hard hit his head. From one moment to the other, he was in a net, and now he was laying down on something muddy, smelly, but soft. As his eyesight cleared, he noticed a girl all covered with dirt, cleaning. She looked so familiar! Then he got it. “Lucy?!” He cried, and she turned around, confused and scared.
“Lu-Luke?” Then Luke noticed something. Her eyes were like immobilized. She was blind…
“What happened, Lucy?” “Oh, master whipped me hard.” “He dared do that!!!!” Luke took out his longsword and knife, and smashed the oak tree door open, and  threw the knife at the master, who was eating his lunch. Surprised, he jumped up, and the knife slashed through his throat, and Luke suddenly felt relaxed for the first time. Without talking, he and Lucy started back to the turtle clan.
“Not so fast…” an icing voice murmured. Suddenly, Luke saw a ultra-violet form flash towards him. Luke raised his longsword for defense, and in an unnatural speed, the form clashed on the tip of his sword, now fizzling with energy and fire combined.
Unsurprisingly, three more forms went flashing at him.
Then he blacked out.
“Where am I?” Luke said. The three forms were lying dead on the floor, with orange gas coming out of their mouths. But no need to ask. He was in hell.

CHAPTER 11
WELCOME IN HELL

Lucy was nowhere to be seen. Demons with fiery wings were circling above him, ready to attack. Mountains were on fire, and the sky was blood orange. A random door was in the middle of a mountain, resisting the fire.
‘So that’s hell,’ thought Luke, as he dashed towards the door, apparently made of animantium (an unbreakable metal, if you didn’t know). As he reached the door, a gigantic hand came out of the ground and grabbed him, pulling him in the soft and burning dirt. He thought he would suffocate, when the hand threw him in a room shining, with a wizard chanting a random spell.
The wizard turned his head toward Luke, showing his deformed face. “Comme… innn… herreee…” The wizard pointed to a room with a strange bookshelf that held weird and unknown stuff like baseball recordings, candies, DVDs, and other teenager objects. “Taaakkke… thhiiiiiis…” the wizard groaned, as he handed over a Twix bar, and a lollipop. “Theeeyyrr… sssppecciaal…” he groaned again. Luke tasted them, and suddenly felt like he controlled magic. He opened his eyes, and he was back on the road with Lucy. He looked at his sword, still blazing with fire energy.
‘But something had changed!’ Luke thought. The handle of the sword had a blue emerald, and the metal had changed to Cherkent metal, almost unbreakable. As he picked it up, he could see the world a different way. He could see humongous Gnomes with tiny noses, a squirrel with a beard, and 20,001, other magic creatures.
“Hey, Luke! I can see again!” Lucy said, waking Luke up from his thoughts. Effectively, a Dragon was scooping at Luke! Without thinking, his arms and legs moved toward the dragon, and at the last second, Luke swooped down to let the dragon crash on the ground. Luke grabbed his sword, and the sword magically transformed in a net that appeared around the dragon. “PITY!!!” the dragon said in his smallest voice. (He couldn’t really murmur…) “First of all,” Luke said calmly, “Why are you here, and how did you get in the twilight domain (The 4 Kingdoms, excluding the Dractrin, the Dragon Kingdom)?” The dragon roared: “KING DRACTIN HAS COME BACK!!!!!!!” The news made Luke stumble. The king Dractin was the most powerful creature in the northern realm, which contained the twilight, Borok, and Aurenly.  He was killed by 209,009,154 goblins. Once dead, a group of 20 humans from a planet called earth saved the Dragon using resurrection spells. From since then, he was 10 times more powerful, for an unknown reason.

CHAPTER 12
 THE 5TH kinGdom is back

If King Dractin was powerful enough to break the magic force of Twilight, they didn’t stand a chance against Dractin. Suddenly, Luke had an idea that would at the same time save the world, and make that the 5 kingdoms have peace (The Goblins, the Dragons, the Nymphs, the Dwarfs, and the Satyrs).

The only thing the Dragon had to do was to arrive to the Nymph city, and tell them that if they didn’t stop fighting, King Dractin would get revenge on them. Then, he would say the same thing to the Goblins. Finally, the Dragon would convince King Dractin to not try to take over the world, by saying the 4 kingdoms had grew overpowered. Then, everything would almost be fixed. Immediately, he told the Dragon his plan, which, after a while, followed his orders and flew towards the Nymph city.

Now, all that Luke needed to do was go to find Brian, his uncle, and stay with him until all the trouble had passed. Then, he would try one way or another to resuscitate his mom or dad. “Luke?” Lucy perturbed his thoughts again. He had completely forgot about Lucy! “I want Daddy!” Then, she added: “And Mommy!” Calmly, Luke responded: “They’re dead, Lucy!” “But I promise you, they’ll be back soon.”
